Corporate social responsibility

Corporate social responsibility benefits our group, our people, and the community around us.

Not only does CSR enrich the working environment of our employees, but our diverse range of CSR activities help us to deliver our strategic aims.

Corporate Governance is important to us – and we are committed to ensuring that we maintain high standards across the globe. In every territory that we operate in, we work with regulators to ensure that all aspects of our business are compliant with local laws. The principles of the UK Corporate Governance Code, alongside our internal policies, govern our corporate behaviour.

The Hyperion Foundation

The Hyperion Foundation is a registered charity in England and Wales (no.1156286). Established in March 2014, the foundation ensures all CSR activity and donations are aligned with the Group objectives, which are as follows:

  • Relief of sickness
  • Relief of poverty
  • Relief of disasters
  • Relief of unemployment
  • Advancement of education

Through this foundation, we operate a give as you earn scheme through Charities Trust. This offers employees in the UK to make a monthly donation directly into the Hyperion Foundation. From there, they can select charities of their choice to support on a one-off or on-going basis.

Matched giving is also supported – where the group acknowledges the fundraising and volunteer efforts of employees, for the communities and charities of their choice, by matching up to £750 of fundraising per employee, per year.

The selection process of charities and local organisations involves employees. We seek to involve all employees and broaden the range and diversity of charity and community work that we undertake across the globe.

For more information about the projects we have supported, please see the Howden Foundation website.

Million for a million

Million for a million was a Group-wide charity initiative, which raised US$1 million by encouraging employees and key business partners to take part in fundraising events and challenges in support of four organisations:

  • Black Dog Institute
  • Cancer Research UK
  • InterRed
  • Plastic Oceans

At the end of the 12 month programme, we raised more than $1,500,000 for over 35 charities worldwide. Over 5000 participants took part in over 190 events covering over 250,000km.
